LUMINA CASCAIS Light Festival will not take place.

We would like to inform all visitors and followers of LUMINA Light Festival that the Municipality of Cascais decided not to support the event in 2019.

We would like to thank the Municipality of Cascais for all the years of collaboration with their professional team, their will to invest in this pioneering project in Portugal and dream that together, we could transform Cascais into the most luminous town in Portugal!

We are saying goodbye to the luminous town with 7 editions that left great artistic legacy and a unique cultural contribution for the approximately 1.5 million visitors from municipality, Portugal and abroad, who enjoyed more than 150 artistic installations of light developed by 122 artists from more than 26 countries worldwide.

We would also like to thank to all of the artists, strategic and institutional partners, sponsors, embassies, media partners, hotels, restaurants, artist assistants, volunteers and OCUBO professionals, who made it possible to produce these first 7 editions with an extensive international programme and projects of great cultural and artistic impact.

​

Considered as one of the 10 best Light Festivals in Europe by The Guardian, awarded as the best cultural event in 2014, received the EFFE Label for a remarkable festival from EFA, European Festival Association, and with an audience of thousands of fans who follow the event year after year, LUMINA Light Festival will light up Portugal again in the near future :) Thank you for all the interesting messages you have sent us.
