ABOUT

The LUMINA Festival of Light has the pleasure and the privilege to, once again, light up the nights in Cascais from 21 to 23 September 2018 from 20h to 24h. The Festival dedicates its 7th Edition to Colors and Shapes.

National and international artists celebrate the theme of the Festival through unique artworks and new creations, leading the visitor along a dynamic path of emotional and sensorial experiences! With contemplative projects, light installations, immersive video mappings, performances, parades and interactive projects, the Festival's purpose is to celebrate colors and forms in all its nuances, senses and aspects, but also to allow visitors to freely interpret different forms of expression, interact and participate in the artistic works, providing them with an unique experience.

Visited by more than 400,000 people, the Festival has been recognized by  The Guardian as one of the 10 best Light Festivals in Europe. With the investment of Cascais Municipality, Embassies and private companies, LUMINA is an unique event that reinforces the identity of Cascais and reflects the commitment of the municipality in the diverse cultural offer in the municipality.

EFFE LABEL

LUMINA received this year for the second time, the EFFE Label 2017-2018 Remarkable Festival, awarded by the European Festivals Association (EFA), recognizing the Festival for its high artistic quality and significant impact at a local, national and international level. The EFA experts emphasize the professionalism of LUMINA, highlighted by its relevant environmental agenda and its projects of involvement with the community.

POLAND-INVITED COUNTRY 2018

Like in the previous edition, LUMINA is presenting an invited country. This year it is Poland.  An initiative promoted by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Lisbon, the invited country will present some of its cultural and gastronomic highlights. Throughout the 3 days, visitors can learn more about the country's gastronomy and culture in the Polish Corner and also admire the work of Polish invited artist Robert Sochacki.
